Interest in lighthouses has been evident for many years. Many countries of the world have used lighthouses to light the way of the wayfaring ship in the day, night or through inclement weather.  Foghorns were used when visibility was limited. The first lighthouse recorded in history was built about 280 BC and the oldest existing lighthouse in the world is considered to be La Coruna in Spain that dates from 20 BC.  

 Lighthouses come in all shapes, colors and designs for the purpose of daytime identification. Now, with modern technology, the lighthouse keeper is no longer needed to maintain these beacons of light.  Government agencies and non-profit local historical societies have restored and maintained most of these coastal landmarks.  They are an integral part of the maritime history of our nation and world.

 The lighthouse symbolically represents guidance for most Christians.  The Bible states, "I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. {Jesus Christ, John 8:12} 

Such interest has developed over the years that guide books with maps to simplify one's search have been written as well as books on the historical significance of the various lighthouses and their keepers and families.  The range of items available with a lighthouse theme is endless.  Everything Lighthouses will search for distinctive quality items that would delight any avid lighthouse enthusiast.
